How to Quickly Access Unread Messages in GMail
Do you want to quickly see he list of unread messages? Do you receive hundreds of emails and have trouble replying to them all? If your answer to any of these questions is a “Yes!” then this tip will help you a lot.
When you want to clear your inbox or you want to make sure that you’ve replied to every received email, it becomes annoying to wade through endless read messages to find any unread mail. It’s very easy to access unread mail in GMail quickly. Just enter “is:unread” into the search bar and click “Search Mail”. To access it more quickly, you can add the resulting page to your bookmarks/favorites.

There’s another way to quickly access unread messages in GMail. Here’s how:
- Click on “Settings” in GMail
- Go to the “Labs” tab
- There’ll be a feature named “Quick Links”, enable it
- Now you’ll find a “Quick Links” box in your sidebar. Now type in “is:unread” in the search box and press enter. Then click on “Add Quick Link” in the Quick Links box. Name it anything you want.
Simply searching for “is:unread” though lists all the unread emails you have in your entire GMail account. To narrow it down, you can add the “label:” parameter to the search. For example, if you want to find unread messages only in your inbox then enter “is:unread label:inbox” in the search box. Or if you want to search for unread mails in a label named “Friends”, for example, then enter “is:unread label:friends”.
Not only will this tip save you the frustration, it’ll also increase your productivity.
